Screened Porches in Nashville, Tennessee
Turning an open deck into three-season space, including roof structure, screening and electrical.
Nashville's Deck does screened porches for homeowners across Middle Tennessee — licensed, insured, with the price in writing before the work starts. Deck builders who set the footings deep, flash the ledger, and would rather tell you what a deck costs than what it starts at.

Building screened porches, footing to final board
A screened porch does more for how much you use your outdoor space in Middle Tennessee than any other single change, because mosquitoes and afternoon sun are what make an open deck unusable for a good part of the season.
The roof connection is the detail to get right. A bolted-on pan roof tucked under the existing eave is the cheap version and it is the standard source of rot at the band joist, because water tracks back under the shingles. Cutting in and flashing properly costs more and does not leak.

FAQ
Footings, permits and other screened porches questions
Can my existing deck be turned into a screened porch?
Often, yes, if the deck frame and footings can carry a roof — many cannot, because a deck is built for people and furniture, not for a roof and a snow load. The footings are checked and usually upgraded, then the roof structure, screening and electrical go on. It is the fastest route to a room you can use in mosquito season.
What is the difference between a screened porch and a three-season room?
A screened porch has screens; a three-season room has glass or vinyl windows that close, so it is usable in cooler weather and keeps out pollen and rain. Both are unconditioned. A four-season room is insulated and heated and is an addition in everything but name. The three are very different in cost.
